Cambodia – Indonesian Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto met with Cambodian Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet in Cambodia on Friday, September 6, 2024.

The meetings with the Cambodian Senate President and Prime Minister were held separately. Prabowo’s visit to Cambodia followed his trip to Laos, where he met with the country’s president and prime minister.

During his meeting with Senate President Hun Sen, Prabowo expressed his deep appreciation for Cambodia’s ongoing commitment to strengthening defense cooperation with Indonesia.

“Moving forward, it is crucial for both countries to actively seek and explore new opportunities for collaboration, ensuring that our partnership remains strong and responsive to emerging challenges and opportunities,” Prabowo stated.

Earlier, in his meeting with Prime Minister Hun Manet, Prabowo shared his confidence that Indonesia and Cambodia could work closely to enhance the prosperity and progress of both nations and the region.

“By strengthening our collaboration, we can significantly contribute to the welfare and development of ASEAN as a whole. I look forward to our continued partnership in achieving these shared goals,” Prabowo remarked.

It is worth noting that Indonesia, through its Ministry of Defense, recently donated weapons and ammunition to the Cambodian Royal Armed Forces’ Special Forces Command. The donation was sent to Cambodia on a C-130J Super Hercules aircraft from Jakarta’s Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base on Thursday, August 29.

The donation included 150 SS2-V5 A1 rifles, 20 G2 Elite pistols, 500,000 rounds of 5.56x45mm ammunition, and 500,000 rounds of 9x19mm ammunition. (RR)
