President Prabowo Subianto recently visited Saudi Arabia on July 2–3, 2025, to strengthen cooperation in providing better services for Indonesian pilgrims during their Hajj and Umrah journeys. During the visit, President Prabowo met with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah to express gratitude for the Saudi government’s dedication to serving pilgrims from Indonesia and around the world.

The discussions centered on the close collaboration between the two countries in ensuring the safety and comfort of Indonesian pilgrims during their religious activities. Both parties agreed to enhance the quality of services for Indonesian pilgrims in future Hajj seasons to ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience.

In addition to addressing Hajj-related matters, strategic agreements were made to strengthen bilateral relations. The Saudi–Indonesia Supreme Coordination Council, co-chaired by the Crown Prince and President Prabowo, focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and technology. The bilateral trade between the two countries has been significant, totaling around USD 31.5 billion over the past five years.

Furthermore, agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed to encourage private sector investment, amounting to approximately USD 27 billion. These investments are expected to create job opportunities in Indonesia, particularly in energy, industrial development, and environmentally sustainable technology sectors.

Both leaders highlighted the importance of cooperation in the health sector, especially in meeting the medical needs of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. They also discussed advancements in the pharmaceutical and vaccine industries and the development of health workforce capacity.

Internationally, President Prabowo and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reiterated their commitment to supporting peaceful conflict resolutions in the region. They expressed support for a two-state solution for Palestine and emphasized the role of international humanitarian organizations in promoting peace and stability.

The visit underscored the strong partnership between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia in various sectors, demonstrating their joint efforts to enhance services for Indonesian pilgrims and deepen cooperation for the benefit of both nations.
